HORTICULTURE PROGRAM
Foundation
The Department of Crop and Animal Production was established within Safiye Çıkrıkçıoğlu Vocational School of Higher Education with the decision of the Board of Higher Education dated 26/04/1995 and 8774 and started education by accepting its first students in 1995-1996 academic year.
Department Mission
Among the Horticulture Programs operating under the Crop and Animal Production Departments of Vocational Schools, to provide high quality associate degree education, to develop and disseminate sustainable agriculture, to train technical staff who are knowledgeable in the field of horticulture, who have a command of national production legislation, and who will contribute to agricultural development.
Department Vision
To train horticulture technicians with our student-centered understanding, who have knowledge in the field of Horticulture, taking into account sustainable resources.
Program Objective
The aim of the Horticulture Program is to educate vocational staff who know how to use modern production techniques that do not harm the environment and human health in agriculture, aiming to produce all kinds of plant products and inputs to be employed in public and private sector institutions and organizations in accordance with the agricultural method and to process, store and control these products.
Program Educational Objectives
EA1. To train self-educated Horticulture Technicians who can work in public institutions.
EA2. To train Horticulture Technicians who can establish their own agricultural enterprises and work in private sector organizations.
EA3. To train conscious individuals / producers who are equipped with up-to-date knowledge and experience in fruit, vegetable, vine, mushroom cultivation, reproduction and cultural care operations, seedling and seedling production techniques, preservation and marketing of products, and who can transfer their knowledge to practice.
Degree Awarded
Graduates gain the title of "Horticulture Technician".
Program Profile
The aim of the Horticulture Program is to prepare intermediate staff for the fruit and vegetable growing sector. With the program in question, qualified Horticulture Technicians are trained to be employed in public institutions and private sector, who have skills in fruit growing, vegetable growing, viticulture and ornamental plants, who are open to development, entrepreneurial, innovative, respectful to human and moral values, who can take part in leadership and management steps. As a result of the program, they receive an "Associate Degree" diploma.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Students who study in the Horticulture program and successfully complete this program have an open path in their professional careers and possible employment areas are presented below in three groups:

Transition to Higher Degree Programs
Students who graduate from the Horticulture Program are required to take the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) conducted by the Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) in order to continue their undergraduate education. Students who graduated from this program can access detailed information from the Vocational Schools Graduates' Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS) Guide, which shows the undergraduate programs they can apply to within the scope of vertical transfer, the conditions of these programs and the number of students to be admitted to these programs. Graduates who have successfully completed their associate degree education can make vertical transfer to 4-year undergraduate programs such as "Horticulture", "Field Crops", "Plant Protection" and "Agricultural Biotechnology" Departments of Agricultural Faculties of universities, provided that they have enough points from the DGS (Vertical Transfer Exam) organized by ÖSYM.

To train organic agriculture technicians who have knowledge in the field of organic agriculture.
Program Objectives
Organic Agriculture is a form of controlled and certified agricultural production from production to consumption without the use of chemical inputs. The aim of organic agriculture is to protect the environment, plant, animal and human health without polluting soil and water resources and air. The aim of our program is to train “Organic Agriculture Technician” who has developed environmental protection awareness in the field of organic agriculture with theoretical and practical teaching and knows how to use production techniques in accordance with the Organic Agriculture legislation that does not harm the environment and human health.
Program Educational Objectives
EA1. To train self-educated Organic Agriculture Technicians who can work in public institutions.
EA2. To train Organic Agriculture Technicians who can establish their own agricultural enterprises and work in private sector organizations.
EA3. To train individuals / producers who know the harm of chemicals to human, animal and environmental health and are conscious about healthy foods within the framework of Organic Agriculture production legislation.

Program Profile
Organic Agriculture Program; To learn and apply the basic principles of organic agriculture and to prepare intermediate staff who can have the responsibility of being qualified staff in this field. With the program in question, the subject is mastered and knows the developing technologies of the day and can apply them; to have skills in the cultivation of plant and animal products in line with the principles of production, to identify the problems that may arise during the storage and sale of these products in accordance with the technique and to develop solutions, to understand the developments in nature, biodiversity, sustainable agriculture and their effects on human life, open to development, entrepreneurial, innovative, respectful to human and moral values, to take part in leadership and management steps, to be employed in public institutions and private sector, qualified Organic Agriculture Technicians are trained. As a result of the program, they receive an “Associate Degree” diploma.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Students who graduate from this program; They can work in the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, organic agriculture enterprises, organic markets, private sector organizations that provide input to organic production (seed, organic fertilizer, organic agricultural control), organic product certification organizations, small and medium-sized agriculture-based industries and SMEs. They can also do organic farming themselves.
